No child should die of choking. Yet every day children choke, and every year hundreds die and thousands land in emergency departments. The Children’s Trainer was developed to educate parents and teachers, as well as children themselves, to learn these simple life-saving techniques. Use this Trainer to teach yourself and everyone you know, and help make the world a little safer for children.
For Act+Fast, saving lives it what it’s all about. Our goal is to promote choking rescue education by making it easy and fun, and help save lives by empowering people with the skills and knowledge needed to respond to any choking emergency.
Now, following requests from instructors, parents, grandparents, and safety professionals worldwide, Act+fast introduces the new Children’s Trainer, specifically designed for children ages 5-11, and adults who want to keep children safe.
The Children’s Anti Choking Trainer Single comes with an attachable back slap pad, 30 foam plugs ( 20 for Advanced Students, 10 For Beginners), a User Manual, a Choking Prevention and First Aid for School Age Children Instructional Guide, and a nylon carry-bag.
The Children’s Anti Choking Trainer 3-Pack comes with 3 Children’s Trainers; each includes an attachable back slap pad, 30 foam plugs (20 for Advanced Students, 10 For Beginners), a User Manual, a Choking Prevention and First Aid for School Age Children Instructional Guide, and nylon carry-bag.
In order to reduce the chances of injury and death from choking, each Children’s Trainer comes with a Choking Prevention and First Aid Instructional Guide by international authority, Ted T. Crites, CHES, which focuses on prevention strategies; knowing what to do when a choking emergency occurs and how to effectively use the Children’s Trainer.
By following the information in this guide, students, teachers, parents and other caregivers will learn how to prevent choking and know how to respond correctly when a child is choking.
Students will be able to:
Our reality-based training method allows students to practice their technique until they master it. For the past decade, millions of students in 65 countries have benefitted from this hands-on approach to choking rescue instruction.
Our students love using the vests, and we believe they are better for simulating than the manikins are.
Raves for the vest in New York City!
I use these Trainers and the people I train really appreciate the realistic approach to choke management.
These Trainers can liven up even the most reclusive person in class!
Totally changes the choking section of any course. Makes it tactile and funny and much more effective!
I love using the Trainer to teach children this skill. It makes learning interactive and fun.
We use the Children’s Vest in all our courses. It’s the only thing that gives realistic, practical application when teaching treatment of choking.
Thank goodness, now I can teach choking rescue the way it SHOULD be taught! I would not think of teaching a CPR class without them.
I’ve been using these Training Vests for a number of years and they make all the difference when teaching choking.
It’s consistently the most well received part of all the courses we run. Fantastic device.
It’s the best addition to our training in years!
Helping young people learn to assist a choking person is priceless. The Children’s vest is easy to use and a wonder tool for the classroom!
The Choking Vests are one of the best training aid investments we at Emergency Action Training have ever purchased.
These vests are the best piece of kit I own. 90% of my students attend because they're worried about choking, and they leave well equipped to deal with a choking situation!
This Trainer has been designed for children ages 5-11. There have been documented cases of kids as young as 5-years-of-age successfully performing the Abdominal Thrust Maneuver and saving lives. It can also be used by adults, with a child wearing the Trainer, or for practice on a manikin.
Yes. If you lose them and need to replace them, they can be ordered separately.
It is very durable, made of high quality neoprene (wet-suit material), and should last many years with frequent use.
Simply remove the PVC bladder and airway assembly, and hand-wash the neoprene vest using a mild detergent. Hang to air dry.
Abdominal thrusts should be given upward quickly without force in the area above the navel and below the ribcage to expel the object so the person can breathe. Each thrust should be given separately and distinctly. It is important not to squeeze the ribcage when giving abdominal thrusts; this will lessen the likelihood of injury to the chest and ribcage. Proper technique is more important than using force. Using force may cause injury. The Act+Fast Children’s Trainer allows you to practice the proper technique to release the foam plug (Foreign object), in a safe but realistic training simulation.
Abdominal Thrusts, even when performed correctly, can cause injury. A foreign object can cause damage that may cause the airway to swell and restrict breathing. This may not happen quickly and may occur over a period of time. For those reasons, a person who has choked, or has been given abdominal thrusts, should be evaluated by a medical professional as soon as possible.
